- McAllen Horror Nights– Live actors, immersive sets and guaranteed spooks await at this creepy haunted experience in the heart of McAllen. Not for the faint of heart, McAllen Horror Nights is a walk through haunted attraction that takes place Thursdays through Sundays in October.
- Boogeyman’s Haunted House– Located in Mathis, this haunted experience like no other you’ve been to opens for the season on October 2. Guests can face their fear in a maze with live actors and seemingly-endless frights. Even cooler? - The Enchanted Pumpkin Patch at Lincoln Park (Brownsville)– For one weekend in October, ghosts and ghouls of all ages can enjoy this sparkling spot. Expect loads of pumpkins, costumes and all things fall. If you go after dark, you can also enjoy the Wizarding Harvest Celebration. October 24 & 25, 2026.
- Boo at the Zoo (Gladys Porter Zoo, Brownsville)– Costumes are encouraged and candy will be handed out at this two-night, family-friendly event at the zoo. Themed food and drink will be available for purchase. Halloween fun awaits at the zoo!
- There are a number of races (5Ks and 10Ks) this October in the Rio Grande Valley that can help you gear up to enjoy those sweets this spooky season. Weslaco has the inaugural Monster Dash on October 31 while Edcouch, Texas, has the Rotary Monster 5K on October 17. The 8th Annual Spooktacular Stroke Awareness 5K is October 26.
