Mother Nature may not know it yet, but fall is almost here. Summer 2026 is fading into another one for the memory books, and cooler temps are, in theory, anyway (if you live in Texas!), on the way. It’s time to start thinking about Halloween costumes, digging out your favorite sweatshirts, cheering for your football team and enjoying anything and everything related to pumpkins. Fall, how we’ve missed you! 

Whether or not you’ve got kids, you’ve got to admit, there is nothing more fun than a visit to the pumpkin patch in the fall. From hayrides to petting zoos and bounce houses to, of course, pumpkins, DFW-area pumpkin patches are one-stop shops for fall fun. Perfect for photo ops and lazy days in the crisp air, pumpkin patches are a great destination in September and October. If you’re in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for fall 2026, here are some awesome spots you won’t want to miss.

  • Blase Family Farm, Rockwall– Come for the pumpkins, stay for the fun! Open for fall fun starting September 19, Blase Family Farm offers everything you need for fall family fun. A petting zoo, hayrides, hay maze, fall photo ops, pumpkin picking and more await at this family-owned affair just east of Dallas. 
  • Country Critters Farm, Alvarado– Starting in October this Fort Worth-area farm will be open for fall fun. Your ticket to Country Critters Farm in Alvarado includes bounce houses, hayrides, pony rides, train rides, petting zoo access and more. Perfect for all ages, Country Critters is a perfect spot to soak up fall fun in Texas. 
  • Hall’s Pumpkin Farm, Grapevine– A local favorite in the DFW area, Hall’s Pumpkin Farm is a place you’ll want to return to year after year. Enjoy the pumpkin patch, hayride and corn maze and then grab a few snacks and enjoy them as you stroll the grounds, snapping beautiful photos in shades of orange, yellow and brown. 
  • Mainstay Farm, Cleburne– This one may be a bit of a drive from the DFW Metroplex, but it is so worth it! This is a spot where you arrive first thing in the morning and don’t leave until dinnertime. Acres and acres of fun await, including swings, hayrides, pumpkins galore, games and so much more. Don’t forget to snag your pumpkins at the end of the trip- you’ll be so exhausted from the fun you might forget! 
  • Sunset Trail Farm, McKinney– This far north Dallas spot has lots of fun for the whole family and is perfect if you have younger kids. Activities you can enjoy at this location include rubber duck races, farm animals, kid-sized hay maze, corn hole, games and more. On the weekends kids can enjoy a train ride, as well. So fun!
