Texas Towns to Love: Frisco

Frisco is a North Texas city people can’t stop talking about. One of the fastest growing cities in Dallas/Fort Worth, Frisco, located about 30 miles north of Dallas proper, was originally called “Frisco City,” after the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway and later shortened to Frisco. It is now one of the most sought-after areas in North Texas, with excellent homes and schools and a great cost of living. A perfect spot for a vacation, Frisco has a lot to offer both locals and visitors. Universal has picked this spot to be the home of its newest US theme park, Universal Kids, set to open in 2026. Frisco is also home to Roughriders Baseball, several fantastic museums, a bustling mall and much more. If you’re searching for a great spot for a vacation, look no further than Frisco!

Five ways to have fantastic fun in Frisco

  1. Take the kids to the city built for kids- KidZania! This one-of-a-kind spot at Stonebriar Mall lets kids rule. They can be newscasters, bakers, doctors, you name it! Kids can “work” throughout the city, learning about different jobs in a fun, engaging way, and then redeem their “earnings” at the end for prizes. So cool!
  2. Entertain your inner video game lover with a trip to the National Videogame Museum. Filled with memorabilia and merchandise from some of your favorite games and characters, the National Videogame Museum is fun for all. Be prepared to even try your hand at some older games you probably haven’t thought of in a while.
  3. Catch a game, a practice or both from some of your favorite sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas and the Frisco Roughriders. The Cowboys practice at The Star in Frisco, and FC Dallas plays at Toyota Soccer Center. And don’t skip the Roughriders games- you can even watch them play from a lazy river at the stadium. Neat!
  4. Play, listen to music, eat and hang out at The Rail Yard in Frisco. This food truck park is dog (and kid!) friendly and almost always has something fun going on. Play yard games, nosh on great food, support local musicians and more at this spot where you can hang out, kick back and have a great time.
  5. Explore historic downtown Frisco. With dozens of great shops, eateries, bakeries, businesses and more, downtown Frisco is a great spot to stroll with friends, taking in the sites and sounds of the city. Buy some fun souvenirs, eat dessert first, maybe grab a drink and just enjoy the unique downtown space Frisco has to offer.
