Sure, the weather in Texas will likely still be toasty long into what most consider fall, but that doesn’t stop people from celebrating Labor Day Weekend as the unofficial end to another great summer. It’s time to take the boat out for one last joy ride, head to the waterpark for one final soak and fire up the grill for the last summer barbeque. Summer 2024 is almost behind us, and what a ride it has been, especially in Dallas/Fort Worth!
Although it may be pretty warm Labor Day Weekend in the Dallas area, you still won’t want to miss some of these fun activities. From festivals and parades to carnivals and concerts, DFW has a lot of goings-ons to enjoy as we kick off September and usher in a new season (sort of, anyway!). Six fun activities for Labor Day Weekend 2024 in Dallas/Fort Worth
- Westfest: One word: kolaches. Okay, okay. So West, Texas, isn’t technically in the DFW area. In fact, West is a solid 70 miles down I35 from downtown Fort Worth but, trust us here, West is worth the drive! This event takes place August 30- September 1, 2024, and promises fun and kolaches. Westfest features polka dancing, carnival rides, live music and the kolaches that are legendary in West. Prost!
- Riverfront Jazz Festival: This year’s 7th Annual Jazz Festival takes place from August 30- September 1, 2024, and offers up an exciting lineup of artists to keep you grooving all weekend long. Enjoy music from Ceelo Green, Ginuwine, Ruben Studdard and more outdoors under the Texas sky. Food trucks and merch will be available for purchase.
- Dallas Arboretum’s Family Fun Labor Day Weekend– Grab the sunscreen and the kids and head to the Arboretum for some family fun. Kids will enjoy the petting zoo as well as free admission to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden on Labor Day Weekend. Plus admission is only $3 per person through the end of August. - Garland’s Labor Day Parade– Who doesn’t love a good parade? On Labor Day- Monday, September 2, 2024- Garland will host a parade to celebrate America’s workforce. Head to this fun Dallas suburb for a chance to partake in the fun and merriment. Don’t forget to bring a chair and lots of water!
- Granbury Labor Day Weekend Festival– This is one small-town Texas festival you won’t want to miss! From lighted boat parades to a kids’ zone and holiday-weekend shopping to karaoke, Granbury is the place to be this Labor Day Weekend. The festival runs from Friday- Monday of Labor Day Weekend. Pack a picnic and spend some time on the beach while you enjoy this town about an hour from Fort Worth.
- Bedford Beats & Eats Fest– Head to this Fort Worth suburb for great food and live music featuring the Randy Rogers Band. This family-friendly festival will also include food trucks, vendors, activities, adult beverages and more. Talk about sending summer out in style! Bedford Beats & Eats is Saturday, August 31.
