Fall 2023 train excursions

• Piney Woods Express Trains- Diesel or Steam- Available weekends in October at 11 am, these train excursions last four hours and take guests from the train station in Palestine to the train station in Rusk. While on board, guests can listen to exciting narration as they watch the hills of East Texas roll by. Most of the cars are climate-controlled and have bathrooms, and guests will also have access to a snack car stocked with items to satisfy the munchies while on board. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the town of Rusk and the train station while the train stops before the journey back begins. Perfect for all ages!
• The Polar Express- If you’ve got littles who love the holidays, this excursion is a must! Embark on an adventure to the North Pole complete with a visit to Santa and his elves. While on board the train, guests will be treated to hot cocoa and a reading of this timeless holiday classic. Guests are encouraged to show up in pajamas to truly capture the magic of this fun holiday tale, and copies of the book will be available for purchase. Truly a wonderful holiday experience for kids and guests of all ages. Available weekends starting Thanksgiving.

2024 train excursions

The 2024 Texas State Railroad schedule has not been published yet but is sure to offer all kinds of fun adventures for East Texas visitors. There are different tours available in the spring, like the popular Wine Train or the Dogwood Lunch Train. Be sure to watch the website for availability- these excursions are popular and do tend to sell out.
