TACO Sets Out on Fall Tour

Texas Campgrounds is kicking off their Fall Tour today! The 2015 TACO Fall Tour enables guests to take a behind-the-scenes look of three highly successful parks on October 12, 2015. Each park will provide an in-depth tour of the facilities, review fact sheets on park operations and conduct a robust question and answer session.

“For the first time, we’ll be getting the perspective of a KOA, a Yogi Bear Jellystone Park and an independent operation all in one tour,” said Brian Schaeffer, CEO/Executive Director of TACO. “Attendees will receive a ton of valuable information all in one place.”

This unique look at park business models enables TACO clients to optimize procedures. The Fall Tour also includes profit-producing presentations on topics like planning and hosting successful activities, when to increase rates, how to maintain unique operations and how cabins and cottages can increase profitability.

Summer Vacation is Still On

Rain, rain, go away! Our hearts go out to the families impacted by the floods. If you’re concerned about your summer reservations, we have good news. Many of our parks are free of flooding and are ready for you to come enjoy the summer.

sunsetThis week, we’re talking to Greg Smith from Pioneer Beach Resort in Port Aransas. This beach town is just two and a half hours from San Antonio, and three and a half hours from Austin. The beautiful area draws in Winter Texans every year, who find themselves staying longer into spring as the beautiful Texas wildflowers bloom. Local Texans also enjoy the park during the summer, as it offers easy access to the beach. Just walk or drive your golf cart over their boardwalk to the water, and let your troubles float away.

Pioneer Beach Resort started in 1995, initially attracting Winter Texans. Now the park sees visitors all year-round, with some guests staying the whole time. They’ve even had kids return who used to camp at Pioneer with their parents when they were younger. The park is home to 361 one full-hookups with concrete pads. The sites fit any make and any size RV, and their friendly staff can help guide you into your spot.

thousandThis week’s interview features a conversation with Terry Munoz from Thousand Trails RV Resort. Thousand Trails is a corporately owned network of campgrounds across the U.S., with seven locations in Texas. All properties are located on lakes and rivers, which provide plenty of opportunity for family-friendly fun.

The name derives from the original owner in Washington who bought a piece of land and cut trails in it to ride his motorcycle. He added camping sites and the business grew, expanding to other states. Thousand Trails is a unique way to camp and save money doing it. If you’re an avid camper or RVer, check out their Annual Membership Pass. The pass requires an annual fee and gives you year-round camping access to any Thousand Trails property, as well as discounts on cabins, cottages and rentals. Terry Munoz says the pass includes 30 days of free camping and nightly rates as low as $3.

TACO Hands Out Hundreds of Guides at the Houston RV Show

TACO BoothTACO is off to a busy start this weekend at the Houston RV Show at the NRG Center. The RV show has been a tradition since 1965, and is currently the largest RV show in Texas. The show encompasses all facets of the RVing lifestyle, and TACO is attending to set up a booth and hand out free camping guides.

Traffic has been steady and busy for the first day of the show. TACO has already handed out hundreds of free camping guides, featuring all of the parks TACO represents in Texas. The guides are full of information on what to do and see all around Texas. Need to find somewhere to eat? Our guide covers that too. Fall in love with Texas and pack your vacations with plenty of family-friendly activities.

TACO BoothOn the first day of the show, TACO went through 33 boxes of bagged material, leaving only 7 boxes of remaining camping guides. As customers flux into the NRG Center, TACO representatives speak to potential customers about the services we offer. We showcase the guides to communicate what we can do for campgrounds, and draw visitors into our represented parks. Marketing events like the Houston RV Show are additional reasons to become part of TACO – excellent exposure.

See San Antonio’s River Walk Sparkle

San Antonio’s own River Walk will transform into a Winter Wonderland this week, and you won’t want to miss it. Celebrate the holiday season with a relaxing camping vacation.
Ford Holiday River ParadeEnjoy the Ford Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 7 – 9 p.m. The parade will travel along the River Walk, and it will feature illuminated floats with celebrities on board, bands that set you in cheery spirits and costumed participants. This year’s theme is “Holiday Celebrations Around the World,” so come get a taste of what Christmas season is like all across the globe.

Celebrate unique cultural differences and view spectacularly decorated floats. The River Walk will be filled with holiday carols and symphonic favorites. Over 80,000 Christmas lights will make this event simply dazzling. Tickets are available online until Thursday, November 27 at 7 p.m.
