What can I do at Garner State Park?

  • In the warm months, guests can enjoy the Frio River. Activities such as tubing, kayaking, swimming and fishing are popular and are fun ways to bond with travelmates and enjoy the sunshine.
  • In the cooler months, guests will enjoy more than 16 miles of hiking trails, including to popular park spots such as Mount Old Baldy, which sits more than 1,800 feet above sea level. As you enjoy the scenery, you can look out for birds and wildlife, which are plentiful in the park year-round.
  • Traveling with kids? No worries- there is plenty for them to enjoy at Garner State Park, too! Kids will love geocaching at the park, as well as playing mini golf, located at the visitor’s center. Kids can also partake in Ranger programs. Learn more about those here

  • Look out for special programming that occurs at different points throughout the year. In the summertime, guests can embark on a hayride where they learn about the history of the area while they ride around on a tractor trailer. How much does it cost to visit Garner State Park?

It is $8 per adult per day to visit Garner State Park. Kids 12 and younger are free. Be aware, it is common for the park to reach capacity, especially during the summer months, and be closed to new visitors until after 6 p.m., so plan accordingly.
