sunsetThis week, we’re talking to Greg Smith from Pioneer Beach Resort in Port Aransas. This beach town is just two and a half hours from San Antonio, and three and a half hours from Austin. The beautiful area draws in Winter Texans every year, who find themselves staying longer into spring as the beautiful Texas wildflowers bloom. Local Texans also enjoy the park during the summer, as it offers easy access to the beach. Just walk or drive your golf cart over their boardwalk to the water, and let your troubles float away.

Pioneer Beach Resort started in 1995, initially attracting Winter Texans. Now the park sees visitors all year-round, with some guests staying the whole time. They’ve even had kids return who used to camp at Pioneer with their parents when they were younger. The park is home to 361 one full-hookups with concrete pads. The sites fit any make and any size RV, and their friendly staff can help guide you into your spot.

This time of year is beautiful in Port Aransas, with spring blooms, great fishing, and plenty of summer sun. Relax and unwind near the waves and feel the sand between your toes. Visit their website for more information.

thousandThis week’s interview features a conversation with Terry Munoz from Thousand Trails RV Resort. Thousand Trails is a corporately owned network of campgrounds across the U.S., with seven locations in Texas. All properties are located on lakes and rivers, which provide plenty of opportunity for family-friendly fun.

The name derives from the original owner in Washington who bought a piece of land and cut trails in it to ride his motorcycle. He added camping sites and the business grew, expanding to other states. Thousand Trails is a unique way to camp and save money doing it. If you’re an avid camper or RVer, check out their Annual Membership Pass. The pass requires an annual fee and gives you year-round camping access to any Thousand Trails property, as well as discounts on cabins, cottages and rentals. Terry Munoz says the pass includes 30 days of free camping and nightly rates as low as $3.

Thousand Trails campgrounds attract Winter Texans and other snowbirds who love to escape the colder seasons. There is also a large population of families at their campgrounds, who seek to spend time in the outdoors and make memories on vacation. Every property features planned activities and abundant wildlife, so there is plenty to do and see.
