RVers who love experiencing the culture of different ethnicities will enjoy going down to South Texas in Halletsville this weekend, where the German and Czech heritage of the area will be vibrantly showcased. Every year on the fourth weekend in March, the town hosts the Polka and Sausage Fest, a popular event full of Czech and German music and the most wonderful food you can imagine.

Listen or dance to lively tunes played by groups like the Texas Legacy Czech Band, the Dujka Brothers and the Czechaholics, as well as Fritz Hodde & the Fabulous Six. Feast to your heart’s content on sausage, kolaches and sauerkraut, along with German potatoes. Other meals at the festivity will include a fish fry, fried chicken and homemade chicken soup.

Those who are polka aficionados will take great delight is this festival, and those who aren’t acquainted with this type of entertainment will likely fall madly in love with the joyful oompah sound.
