Celebrate Texan Cowboy Heritage in Alpine

Posted on: February 19th, 2013 by admin No Comments

Hidden in the remote high desert of West Texas is the jewel of Alpine, a town with panoramic mountain views where every route is the scenic route. Strolling through downtown can also be rewarding, as it is filled with historic architecture and interesting shops, bookstores and galleries.

While Alpine is worth visiting any time, this weekend will be extra special because the town will host some events that celebrate the proud cowboy heritage of the area. On February 22 and 23, the Trappings of Texas will offer beautiful Western art and cowboy gear for purchase, along with roasted tenderloin and Mexican food. The festivity will end Saturday night with a dance.

Another event on February 22 to 24 is the Annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering, where 50 performers will entertain with stories, music and poetry of the working cowboy. All these forms of artistic expression will pay homage to the cowboy lifestyle.
