If the different types of landscapes in the state were to enter a beauty contest, undoubtedly two of the top contenders for the crown would be the majestic mountainous area of West Texas and the tall pine forests of East Texas. But perhaps the contestant that would be impossible to beat would be Willow City Loop, an amazing 13-mile stretch of road near Fredericksburg that will blow you away.
The surreal scenery through this unique geographical area features rugged terrain of hills and canyons, live oak trees and an abundance of wildlife. While it is beautiful any time of year, in the wildflower season of March and April it is a little piece of Heaven. A vast profusion of bluebonnets and other colorful blooms cover the meadows, creating an effect that is gorgeous beyond description.
Any visit to Texas Hill Country would not be complete without traveling this road. Moreover, the area is not only near Fredericksburg but is a drivable distance to New Braunfels, both of which are interesting towns to explore.
You can locate a park close to this attraction by visiting TexasCampgrounds.com and clicking on the Find a Park page. Click on “Search by City” then select Fredericksburg.
