Music lovers worldwide come to Austin every year for the Austin City Limits and South by Southwest Texas Campgroundsmusic festivals, which have exploded in popularity in recent years. That’s what brings such great variety in music genre, audiences, and interests outside of music such as film, design, social media and more.

The Austin City Limits Festival this year is October 12-14, bringing in headliners Neil Young, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Florence and the Machine, Iggy and the Stooges and much more musical talent. But if you don’t have a sold out ticket, there are shows, concerts and street artists everywhere you turn in Austin and many of the events are free.

So search local RV Parks in Austin like Oak Forest, Midtown, Royal Palms or Austin Lone Star RV Resorts. Our Find A Park feature is a quick and easy way to search by attraction, city or region and find your perfect place to stay in the Live Music Capitol.

Central Texas offers rolling hills, dynamic history

Stephen F. Austin settled the land that includes his namesake, and the Texas state capitol city. The region’s beautiful natural scenery and historic sites draw people to the Hill Country every year to camp, swim, hike, eat and shop in the heart of Texas.

The springtime especially brings visitors to see the wildflowers that grow along Texas highways and fields. Whether you’re camping near Lake Travis, central Austin or closer to San Marcos, there is plenty to do both outdoors and inside.

Lake Travis and Lake Austin provide boating, kayaking, hiking, zip lining, cycling and more at the many parks by the lake. Visit the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center to get a glimpse of the area’s most beautiful plant life, and take a dinner cruise to see the bats come out from under Congress Bridge.

Visit the Domain, Round Rock or San Marcos outlets for shopping, in addition to various boutiques around town. And head to the Salt Lick in Dripping Springs for the best BBQ you’ll ever taste. For more urban dining, head downtown for sushi, Mexican, seafood, steak or any other gourmet food you can dream of.

Don’t forget to stop by the Texas state Capitol, the University of Texas tower and the Bob Bullock Museum to learn about Central Texas history. And take a drive through Mount Bonnell and stop at the Cover Park overlook for views to take your breath away.

When you’re ready to plan your visit to the beautiful and historic Hill Country, browse hundreds of Central Texas RV parks and resorts on our Find A Park feature on TexasCampgrounds.com. You won’t regret it, and you certainly won’t forget it!
